Chief Information Officer and Executive Officer

Amanda Crawford is the Executive Director of DIR and serves as the Chief Information Officer for the State of Texas. In this role, she is responsible for the overall leadership, direction, and daily operations of DIR, an agency with an annual fiscal profile of more than $4 billion per year. DIR’s responsibilities include protecting the state’s data and critical technology infrastructure, managing a multi-billion dollar cooperative contracts program, and providing strategic technology leadership, solutions, and innovation to all levels of Texas government. Under Mandy’s leadership, DIR led the state’s successful response to the 2019 ransomware attack that affected over 20 local government entities in Texas and secured the transition to the next-generation suite of managed IT services offered through DIR’s Shared Technology Services program.

Prior to leading the team at DIR, Mandy served at the Office of the Attorney General of Texas (OAG) for more than 17 years. She held various positions at the OAG, including ultimately serving for two and a half years as the Deputy Attorney General for Administration and General Counsel. Mandy also served as a faculty member for the National Attorneys General Training Research Institute’s Center for Leadership Development, teaching managerial leadership across the country.

Mandy earned her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin and her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. She is a graduate of the Governor’s Center for Executive Development through the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin.

Ritu Chadha

Ritu Chadha

Senior Research Director

Ritu Chadha is a Senior Research Director at Peraton Labs, where she leads the Machine Learning and Data Analytics Research department. During her tenure at Peraton Labs and its predecessor companies (Bellcore, Telcordia, Applied Communication Sciences, Vencore Labs, Perspecta Labs), Dr. Chadha has performed and managed research in areas at the intersection of machine learning, cybersecurity, wireless networking, and modeling & simulation for customers including the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), U.S. Army Research Laboratory, U.S. Army C5ISR Center, Air Force Research Laboratory, and other government as well as commercial customers.

Her current work focuses on identifying research trends and generating innovative solutions by building high-performing multi-disciplinary teams and forging strategic collaborations with Government, industrial and academic organizations. She has a sustained track record of achievement in pioneering high-impact research and transitioning solutions to a diverse set of customers and successful commercial startups.

Dr. Chadha holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has authored more than 100 conference and journal papers, is a co-inventor on multiple patents, and has written a book on the application of policy-based network management to mobile ad hoc networks. Dr. Chadha was elected a Telcordia Fellow in 2008 in acknowledgment of the significance of her contributions to Telcordia’s business in producing both cutting-edge research and customer-focused results.
